  • Anthem Review Performance PS4 Pro Vs Xbox One X

Anthem combines third-person shooter and action role-playing game elements in a "contiguous open world" shared with up to three other players in which they take the role of a Freelancer donning fully customizable exosuits called Javelins. These suits can be customized to have various unique weapons and superhuman abilities.

Anthem Visual Parity PS4 Pro Vs Xbox One X Performance Rate

Now we have explained a little bit of the game let's go on with today topic more importantly, how well does Anthem run on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X? Anthem was supposedly running at 4K on the Xbox One X when it was first revealed by EA, but this doesn’t seem to carry over to the final game. According to the tech analysis done by Digital Foundry, Anthem is a far cry from its original reveal and has a visual parity between the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. The only minor difference seems to be for level-of-detail, that might favor Microsoft’s mid-generation hardware upgrade.

Sincerely, the results are actually quite frustrating especially if you own Microsoft’s Xbox One X console, which has better hardware but suffers from worse performance than the PS4 Pro. It is quite surprising to see this since this shouldn’t happen, but this is also an early build so we have to give Bioware benefit of the doubt for now.

The resolution for this open demo of Anthem is the same on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. You get a checkerboard rendered resolution of 1800p here. The performance though is much worse on the Xbox One X where it doesn’t even manage to stay closer to its 30 FPS target. The frame rate is unlocked so if you can force the PS4 Pro to run at 1080p and disable supersampling, you can actually play Anthem at a higher than 30 FPS with a frame rate average of 40 to 50 FPS. Hopefully, by the time the game launches later this February, EA is able to fix out any of the performance issues in time for the launch. The game will be available on February 22, 2019.
