- Intel 9th Gen
Intel's 9th Gen Core Processors' final specifications are here at last and, as expected, Intel has exceeded are expectations yet again. Videocardz have released the latest report on the performance and specifications, thanks to Intel's upcoming 9th generation processors coming out on October.
Intel Core i9-9900K and Core i7-9700K Coming with the New Soldered IHS Design- Processor Details on the 8 Core CPU
The official specifications of the 9th Gen Processors are out, and it turns out most of the presumptions were true. The leaked information confirms the expected specs as well as the new features. But the most eye-catching of them all was the new Soldered IHS Design on these 8 Core processors.
Below are some of the most notable features of the new 9th Gen CPUs:
- First performance Intel Core i9 desktop s-series processor
- Up to 8 cores
- Intel Z390 chipset compatible
- Solder Thermal Interface Material (STIM)
- Integrated USB 3.1 Gen 2 and Integrated Intel Wireless-AC
- Up to 16 threads, 5.0 GHz, 16 MB cache, and 40 platform PCIe lanes (16 CPU + 24 PCH)
- Compatible with all Intel 300 series chipsets
- Intel Optane memory and Intel Optane SSD support
- Thunderbolt 3 support
Past rumors suggested that Intel may utilize a soldered IHS on their 8 core processors which would be advantageous to keep the processors running cooler than solderless plans as well as unlock much better overclocking speeds as it is clearly stated STIM (Soldered Thermal Interface Material) offers a much needed advantage to the overclocking consumers.
Keeping this in mind, Intel can refrain from releasing the statement against overclocking K series processors to avoid heating issues. The latest chips are expected to reach frequencies as high as 5.5 GHz which is a great jump in performance considering it is already a consumer optimized product.
