- AMD's 2nd Generation Processor, with 16-cores and 32-threads, Ryzen Threadripper is finally out for sale
In April 2018 AMD released its Ryzen 2nd Generation processors, and totally destroyed the 1st Gen processors when it came to performance. AMD seems to have a similar agenda with the Ryzen Threadripper 2nd Generation to deliver top-of-the-line processors you can purchase in 2018 to match it's rival Nvidia GeForce RTX Turing Graphics.
Following the trend, Ryzen Threadripper 2nd-Gen shows a great leap in terms of performance. The higher clock speeds, better power management along with the increase in core-counts, the new processor has not disappointed us at all.
Although the official reveal and pre-orders are open, AMD has still kept plenty secrets. But here is all we know as of now.

AMD claims that Ryzen Threadripper 2950X is capable of putting in increased multi-threaded performance by 41% when compared to the same of Core i9-7900X.
Not only that but the incredible X399 platform – the only solution for users who need the most I/O and exclusive ECC memory support on the desktop – gets even better with StoreMI storage acceleration technology.
How much for the Ryzen Threadripper 2nd Generation?
- Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX: $1,799 (£1,639, AU$2,679)
AMD Ryzen Threadripper “X” series is designed for prosumers, enthusiasts, and multitasking gamers, and now with 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X, AMD ups the ante with significant technological advancements and higher clock speeds than ever before.
Here are the prices of the Ryzen 2nd-Gen Threadripper by AMD:
- Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX: $1,299 (about £1,000, AU$1,755)
- Ryzen Threadripper 2950X: $899 (about £690, AU$1,210)
