- Hope Mikaelson Returns From The Malivore Pit?
Legacies season 2 debuts in October 10 to The CW. Will the new series bring Hope Mikaelson back after sacrificing herself in the Malivore pit?

Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) obviously does not appear in the promo, leaving fans worried she will not return to the show after sacrificing herself into the Malivore pit in the previous series. Fans of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals spin-off, can read on for all the clues that Hope will return to the series.
In the trailer, Hope does not appear, though a photo of her is being burned. The promo is set in the aftermath of Hope’s sacrifice, where the school’s memories of the student has been wiped. Executive producer Brett Matthews told TVLine:
In the trailer, Hope does not appear, though a photo of her is being burned. The promo is set in the aftermath of Hope’s sacrifice, where the school’s memories of the student has been wiped. Executive producer Brett Matthews told TVLine:
- “We’re coming back to a world where people don’t know Hope Mikaelson. The characters are blissfully unaware, but there’s a void that no one can quite put their finger on.”

This seems to suggest that The CW may be taking a leaf from the book of one of its previous shows, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In one series finale of that show, Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) also sacrificed herself into a pit into Hell to save her friends. However, in the next season premiere, she was brought to life by witchcraft. In an interview with E! News, Legacies creator Julie Plec acknowledged the show was influenced by Buffy, giving credence to this theory.

But she also clued to E! that the series might explore a world without Hope, saying: “If she was right and her being the tribrid fully destroyed Malivore, then why doesn’t anybody remember who she is? But she clearly wasn’t wrong either, because the pit is dry now. The Malivore pit is gone. So the big question is, where is she, what happened to her, and is she going to be able to get out? We will find out next month when the series debuts. Stay tuned for more updates coming your way.
